2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Review

If you have an extra $100,000 to $120,000, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class luxury off-road vehicle may be just the new ride for you. It's a wonderful, tough blend of military heritage and modern technology. It has been designed to instill confidence in rugged terrain and crossed with dependability, luxury, comfort and safety.

The 2009 G-Class comes with your choice between 2 engines: a 5.5L 382-hp V8 combined with a 7-speed automatic transmission and a supercharged 5.5L 500hp V8 with a 5-speed auto transmission. The trim names are G500 and the AMG G55 respectively. Optimal-quality interior materials include genuine leather seating, real wood trim and the finest fabrics. Standard features like the rapid HDD navigational system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated and cooled seating for the driver and front passenger, dual climate controls and rear parking assistance put the G-Class in a class by itself. Everything is in place to grant you the epitome of luxury and automated driving bliss.

One of the most notable features of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class for 2009 is the COMAND Infotainment System. It has a 40-gigabyte hard drive built in to store all of your favorite music as well as more GPS mapping than you will ever need. There's also a dash-mounted 6 CD/DVD changer and an ear-threatening Harmon/Kardon stereo surround system. High resolution graphics are easy to see on the oversized navigational system's display monitor.

Of course, the G-Class trims are 4 wheel driven and are excellently capable of handling even the most adverse terrain scenarios. The vehicle's curb weight is 5622 pounds and you're going to get about 11/15 mpg city/highway in terms of fuel economy. The wheelbase is 112.2 inches; the overall length is 185.6 inches. Width and height are 71.3 and 77.8 inches respectively.

The 2009 Mercedes G-Class is one of the toughest, most capable off-road vehicles ever manufactured anywhere on the planet. It features 100 percent body-on-frame construction standards and both rear and front axles that are completely solid. There are three separate locking differentials and plenty of metal sheeting underneath to ward off rocks, debris, sticks and the like.

Its cube-like shape with upright windshield give the G-Class a distinctively utilitarian appearance, yet one that is still unmistakably Mercedes-Benz. For more civilized style, look to the Land Rover Range Rover. Inside the cabin, one feels as though in command of a vehicle designed to explore strange, new planets in ultimate comfort and safety. It's an empowering feeling that has to be experienced to be appreciated.

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class may well be the world's most unique vehicle. It combines more features than any other car, truck, SUV or crossover - and it can go places that few to none of them can. Experience the 2009 G-Class soon and learn what it's like to be in total control of any environment that you find yourself in.
