2010 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Review
There are two primary considerations concerning the design and manufacturing of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz CL Class: luxury and insane performance levels. Since the early fifties, the CL Class has remained expensive and distinctly exclusive as a grand touring coupe. Its modern evolution makes it one of the most glorious, downright fearsome vehicles ever created. The CL Class intentionally trumps any sense of practicality with bucketloads of aesthetics. It's a luxury coupe with a hardtop design that's sleek, sexy and ultimately powerful.
Let's face it, the 2010 CL Class from Mercedes-Benz is not meant to be overly fuel efficient; it's meant to run like a sexually violated gorilla! There are four trims available: CL600, CL65 AMG, Base CL550 and Base CL63 AMG. All models are 2-door, rear wheel-driven coupes. The base trim CL550 features a madly powerful 5.5L V8 engine that produces 382 horses at 6000 RPM. With the help of a Touchshift 7-speed/OD automatic transmission, 391 lb-ft of torque is generated at 2800 RPM. The other V8 engine option is a massive 6.2L 518 horsepower 465 lb-ft monster that is fitted into the Base CL63 AMG. It's joined by a 7-speed/OD automatic gearbox with AMG Speedshift manual shifting control.
Now it's time to get crazy: Introducing the CL600 version of the CL-Class Mercedes-Benz 2010, a 5.5L 510 horsepower 612 lb-ft V12 twin-turbo masterpiece that'll send people running in fear. That massive torque rating is achieved by sending all of those horses through a 5-speed/OD automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shifting control. And for those who have truly lost their minds, the CL65 AMG presents a 6.0L twin-turbo V12 brute that cranks out 604 horses at 4800 RPM and a jaw-dropping 738 lb-ft of torque at just 2000 RPM. You might want to know that Tony Stewart's NASCAR stock car is rated at about 775hp.
All trims of the 2010 Mercedes CL-Class feature a 23.8-gallon fuel tank and EPA-estimated base trim fuel economy of 14/21 mpg urban/rural. Suggested retail pricing ranges from $110,400 up to $207,170, of course having a lot to do with the engine choice selected. And don't forget that Mercedes-Benz vehicles are some of the safest on the planet. You'll find affordable insurance because of standard safety features include:
- Electronic stability control;
- 4-wheel antilock braking;
- Front, knee, side and overhead airbags;
- Seat belt pretensioners;
- Anti-whiplash head restraints;
- Theft deterrent system;
- Ignition disable;
Exterior dimensions of the CL Class 2010 Mercedes-Benz are 199.4, 73.7 and 55.8 inches in length, width and height. A long 116.3-inch wheelbase balances the 4634-pound base curb weight. Interior measurements include:
- 37 inches front headroom (36 rear);
- 59 inches front shoulder room (55 rear);
- 62 inches front hip room (56 rear);
- 42.2 inches front leg room (32.2 rear);
- 13.5 cubic feet luggage capacity;
- Comfortable seating for four;
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz CL Class is absolutely drenched in standard features for luxury. New for this year, HD digital radio, Active Current Bi-xenon headlamps, the Harmon Kardon Logic7 audio system and an enhanced instrument cluster display have all been made standard features. Additionally, 20-inch wheels have become optional. To summarize, the CL Class from Mercedes are some of the most powerful, most luxurious automobiles available on this planet. If money is not an issue, why wouldn't you buy one today?
