Mercury Sable

At a time when mid size vehicles were more popular than any other size, the Mercury Sable almost immediately upon introduction became a common fleet vehicle and a favorite for small families and couples who appreciated the larger size and convenience of a four door vehicle. More recently, when fuel efficiency and compact, versatile vehicles were becoming most popular, the Mercury Sable, which was first introduced in 1986 has actually increased in size. For the first few years of Sable production, it was a very popular car with both consumers and industry specialists, though it was somewhat a nondescript mid size vehicle.

In 2005, the Sable was replaced by the all new Mercury Montego - but after a three year hiatus the Sable returned, revived again to replace the Montego for the 2008 model year. With the many changes that have occurred throughout the years, the born again Sable is still a favorable model name that has drawn a loyal following of consumers who prefer the comfort, convenience and handling of a mid size sedan. Both the base model and the Premier models are available in both front wheel and all wheel drive and a new 3.5 liter V6 engine with 263 horsepower, a 30% increase over its Montego predecessor, moves this mid size sedan with ease. Standard equipment includes a six speed automatic transmission, an AdvanceTrac electronic stability control mechanism, optional voice activated navigational system, satellite radio and a rear seat entertainment center.

Room for 5, the huge backseat and trunk, ample engine power and superior handling, in addition to outstanding safety and security features that have lead to 5 star crash test ratings, have helped make the Sable a respectable mid size sedan at a reasonable price that accommodates the needs of families, couples and those who just enjoy the ride and features of an upscale mid size sedan.

2009 Mercury Sable
The 2009 Mercury Sable sails past the competition, with the possible exception of the Toyota Corolla , in terms of exterior styling. Its elegant profile is matched with subtle chrome details, while the interior receives impressive technological upgrades. However, with only one engine option available to buyers, some might go with the competition's more customizable models. Nevertheless, the 2009 Sable can be tweaked to meet any buyer's needs in the interior with several standard features normally considered add-ons for other four-door family sedans. This five-passenger model was awarded the title of safest full-size sedan in America based on overall ratings from NHTSA and IIHS, which is sure to please potential buyers with small children.

Inside, the Mercury Sable can have each owner's personal touches installed. But, standard features include MP3 compatibility, a CD changer and four speakers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a six-way driver's seat. The auto-dimming rearview mirror eliminates glares, so that drivers can easily see vehicles behind them in the dark. more
2008 Mercury Sable
If the 2008 Mercury Sable seems eerily familiar, it should. Why? Because this year's Sable is last year's Montego, redressed and renamed. Mercury, it seems, is counting on consumer recognition of the Sable name to help sell more sedans.
