2009 Mitsubishi Galant Review

When the 2009 Mitsubishi Galant hit sales lots, buyers and critics alike were impressed. The vehicle makes less of an impact on the environment than most other 4-door sedans, including the Chevrolet Impala, and it also includes an immense list of standard features not seen elsewhere. With four different trim levels, buyers can get exactly what they are looking for, and with an MSRP starting at around $23,099, consumers will know that they are getting their money's worth.

Three engine choices include: a 2.4L MIVEC, a 3.8L, or a 3.8L MIVEC. The horsepower ranges from 160 to 258. Buyers can also choose from either a 4-speed or 5-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The Ralliart trim features added traction control as well, so drivers can feel confident knowing that at high speeds the car will still hug the road. 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels give the 2009 Galant both a lighter ride and sharper appearance. All season tires are available on all trim levels as well. The ES and Sport Edition trims both get an impressive 20 city MPG and 27 highway MPG. However, the Sport V6 and Ralliart trims are only estimated at around 16 city MPG and 25 highway MPG. Mitsubishi hasn't forgotten about the environment either. The Galant is equipped with a catalytic converter that emits lower greenhouse emissions than most other sedans on the road. Also, the PremAir Ozone Purification system in the Galant actually cleans the air that passes through it; thereby, the Galant is in fact good for the environment.

The lowest trim, the ES, has many standard features not seen in other factory sedans. Automatic climate control provides a comfortable ride for every passenger inside the Galant. Power locks, windows, and even mirrors come standard too. A 140-watt CD system is compatible with any MP3 player as well. And, the driver's seat is adjustable in up to six different ways. Anti-lock brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system, and dual-stage airbags provide a level of protection not usually offered in a standard sedan.

When the Chicago Sun-Times said that the 2009 Mitsubishi Galant should be on buyers shopping lists, most others would tend to agree. Great price, great standard features and a wealth of choices make the Mitsubishi Galant one of a kind. Also, Edmunds said that the Galant has "spirit and style." What more could a driver ask for? The incredible gas mileage and environmentally friendly features put the 2009 Mitsubishi Galant over the top and in the running to become the best family sedan on the road.
