2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse Review
Pricing for the sporty 2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse ranges from $20,699 up to $28,089. The new Eclipse has two doors and four seats. It's an able coupe that is absolutely loaded with good looks. It has been manufactured to take on the Chevy Camaro, the Ford Mustang, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the Mazda RX8. That's some pretty stiff competition for Mitsubishi, but they think they have it covered.
The 2010 Eclipse from Mitsubishi is available in three separate trims: the GS, the GS Sport and the GT. Base power is developed and delivered from a relatively weak 2.4L I4 engine. Most purchasers immediately opt for the beefier 3.8L 265hp 262 lb-ft V6 engine mated to a choice between a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 5-speed manual. Maximum torque occurs at 4000 RPM on the automatics. Plenty of ready power is provided and you're going to have a blast cruising the strips and highways in one of these sharp looking machines.
Standard safety features for the Mitsubishi Eclipse include anti lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring, front, side and side curtain airbags as well as electronic traction and stability control. These cars are made to move - and move safely. If you want to increase the standard safety presented, upgrade your choice to a more feature-packed GS or GT model. However, regardless of the trim that you choose, Bluetooth communications, auxiliary input jacks and rear-view cameras will not be made available.
Adequately sized at 180.4 inches x 72.2 inches x 53.5 inches and riding on a 101.4 inch wheelbase, the 2010 Eclipse from Mitsubishi looks poised and ready to pounce. The GS trims ride 5.8 inches above the ground while the GS Sport and GT trims hover at 6.1 inches. The gross vehicular weight reads out at 4090 pounds except for on the GT trim which weighs 4332 pounds.
There's not a ton of room inside. This new Eclipse presents only 39 inches of frontal headroom (35 in the rear), 54 inches of shoulder room (51 rear) and 54 inches of hip room (44 rear). Front leg room for the driver and passenger is measured at 42.8 inches. Rear passengers tend to be cramped with only 29.2 inches of legroom. An adequate amount of luggage can be hauled in the 15.7 cubic space of maximum cargo capacity. There's no folding down of seats here to increase cargo hauling spaciousness. Standard seating accommodates four people, but not necessarily four full-grown adults.
A 17.7 gallon fuel tank is included with the 2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse. EPA estimations for fuel efficiency have been reported at 20/28 MPG city/highway for the base I4 engine and 16/25 for the more muscular engine that everybody wants. Overall, the Eclipse presents you with a cost effective alternative for modern sports cars. Able to deliver excellent power and responsive handling when properly equipped, these sporty machines will definitely get you noticed.
