2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Review
Classified by the EPA as a compact sedan and able to deliver 22/31 mpg urban/rural, the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer is sporty, user friendly and very safe. It has been awarded five out of five stars by the NHTSA for driver's side frontal crash test safety. It's a vehicle that's exciting to drive; and it's dripping with distinctive character. Suggested base trim retail pricing ranges between $14,790 and $27,190. The Lancer is available in four trims; three FWD and one AWD. Front wheel-driven Lancer trims include the base DE, ES and GTS versions while the Ralliart trim is all wheel-driven.
DE and ES Lancers from Mitsubishi 2010 are powered by a 2.0L 152-horsepower (@ 6000 RPM) 146 ft-lb (@ 4250 RPM) inline 4-cylinder engine. GTS Lancers receive a more powerful 2.4L 168-horsepower 167 ft-lb I4. A smooth-shifting 5-speed manual is standard while a CVT (continuously variable transmission) is optional. On Ralliart trims, a 2.0L turbocharged I4 is equipped to deliver 237 horses and 253 pound-feet of torque. It's matched up with a paddle-shifting 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift gearbox (TC-TSS) and delivers 17/25 mpg.
On top of the base DE trims features, the ES trim comes with standard 16-inch alloy wheels, AC, auxiliary input jacks, 60/40 seating in the rear and cruise control. GTS versions offer even more with fog lights, rear spoiler, sport tuned suspension, automatic climate control, 18-inch wheels and Bluetooth connectivity. The Ralliart adds in distinctive interior and exterior accents and FAST-Key passive entry. Standard safety features for all trims of the 2010 Lancer include:
- Electronic traction and stability control;
- Front, overhead, side-impact and knee airbags;
- Anti-whiplash head restraints in front;
- 4-wheel antilock all-disc braking system;
- Tire pressure monitoring;
The 2010 Lancer Mitsubishi is similar in size and amenities to vehicles including the Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus. It measures 180 inches in length, 69.4 inches in width, 58 inches in height and has a 103.7-inch wheelbase. All trims clear the ground by 5.8 inches. Lancers weigh in at the curb at 2911, 2922, 3010 and 3462 pounds respectively for DE, ES, GTS and Ralliart trims. On the inside of all versions, occupants will find:
- 40 inches of headroom (37 rear);
- 55 inches of shoulder room (54 rear);
- 53 inches of hip room (54 rear);
- 42.3 inches of legroom (36.1 rear);
- 12.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity;
