The Nissan Titan is very desirable full-size pickup truck, has a very bold and attractive stance, and is available in what seems like an endless list of configurations that include either a Crew Cab or King Cab, 2 WD (rear wheel drive) or 4WD, various bed lengths and 4 trims-3 of which are applicable to the 2WD models. The 2008 Nissan Titan 2WD and 4WD versions have both received significant updates this year, the most noteworthy being the availability of a longer 7 foot bed for the Crew Cabs, and an 8 foot bed the King Cab models. This addition is sure to please contractors who rely on their vehicles for heavy duty hauling on a regular basis. Also new this year is the Titan's revised front end and redesigned seats, instrument panel and center stack. New features include Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a larger screen for the rear seat entertainment system. The Pro-4X is a new trim for 2008 and only available with 4WD, however the vehicle itself is basically the Titan outfitted with the optional 2007 Off Road Package, which has been discontinued this year.

The innovatively designed cabin for all versions of the Titan is functional, comfortable and spacious. All 2WD Titans are available with a King Cab or Crew Cab and a choice of various bed lengths. The first of 3 trims for the 2WD versions is the entry level XE which comes with 18 inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, AM/FM/CD stereo, cruise control and a 40/20/40-split front bench seat. The SE replaces the steel rims with alloy rims and adds power windows, mirrors and door locks, heated side view mirrors, front seat captain's chairs with a large center console, leather upholstery, an auxiliary audio input jack, a useful overhead console and an in dash CD changer. The elaborately equipped Titan LE includes all the features found on the SE and adds 20 inch wheels, a bed liner, cargo tie-down tracks, rear park assist, power adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an upgraded Rockford Fosgate audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, power-adjustable pedals, auto dimming mirrors and a power-folding side view mirrors. Most of the LE's features can be purchased as options for the lower trims. Other major options, depending on the trim level, include a navigation system, satellite radio, a DVD rear entertainment system, a sunroof and a tow package.

There is only one drivetrain combination available for the Titan and it is a powerful, 317 horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. With the optional tow package, the Titan 2WD King Cab is rated capable of towing up to 9,500 pounds, while the maximum towing capacity for Crew Cab models is 9400 pounds. The standard 5 speed automatic transmission conveniently includes a tow/haul mode to accommodate heavy loads.

The 2008 Nissan Titan 2WD offers a smoother ride than 4WD versions, and has plenty of acceleration on the highway as well as on the job site. Nissan has high hopes that with its new longer wheel base models and refreshed style that the Titan will appeal more to big truck buyers, and it is definitely worthy of consideration if you are shopping for a practically designed and visually appealing full size pick up truck.
