2009 Nissan 350Z Review

As a carryover from the prior model year, the 2009 Nissan 350Z retains the same super sleek exterior combined with generous power and a wealth of standard features. When the intro price is compared with the competition, the 350Z ends up being one of the most affordable sports cars on the market. With three unique trim levels to choose from, buyers get the opportunity to find their perfect 350Z. Ward's gave the Nissan 350Z the honor of being named as having one of the top ten engines, and this model also got a five-star rating for side-impact crash testing. Also, the model can be purchased as either a coupe or convertible. The one issue that some potential buyers could have with this 2009 Nissan is the tight accommodations for two passengers.

Under the hood, the 350Z is fitted with a powerful 306 horsepower 3.5L DOHC V6. With 268-lbs per foot of torque, this roadster has some get up and go. A Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System consistently adjusts the exhaust intake to better conserve fuel and power the model accordingly. Due to this system and other fuel-saving additions, the Nissan 350Z gets around 17 city MPG and 24 highway MPG. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake force Distribution, and Brake Assist are all standard on the model as well. Brake Assist will actually step in and apply the brakes in emergency situations, while EBS makes sure that the proper amount of pressure is applied to the brakes. Both front and rear independent suspensions make handling that much easier and the ride smooth.

Inside, all trims get automatic temperature control, power windows and locks, and two 12-volt power outlets. Buyers will receive a HomeLink Universal Transceiver on the higher trims that links the vehicle to a home's garage door, lighting, security, and gate systems. An eight-way adjustable driver's seat is standard on all trims, while the lower trims get a CD player audio system. The higher trims are equipped with a premium Bose sound system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3 compatibility. However, some consumers could be disappointed that a navigation unit is not included with the model.

Safety is a high priority for the 2009 350Z as well. An advanced airbag system, traction control (on all but the base trim), front and rear crumple zones, and a tire pressure monitoring system are all standard. The 350Z is also fitted with a security system that will immobilize the engine in the event of a break-in.

In general, the 2009 Nissan 350Z is an aerodynamic sports car that delivers. A generous powertrain both lends itself to power and fuel economy, a rare combination in a roadster. Also, priced around $36,870, comparing favorably with the Audi TT Roadster, buyers will certainly get their money's worth. Nevertheless, those that are looking for extra space will need to take a look at another model.
