2009 Nissan 370Z Review

The 6th-generation 2009 Nissan 370Z is an entirely new car. 4 inches shorter in wheelbase than the previous generation 350Z, it is also 2.7 inches shorter in overall length, 1.3 inches wider and definitely faster. Each body contour and virtually every plane is uniquely designed. In competition with the likes of the Chevy Corvette, the 500hp Ford Shelby GT500 and the Infiniti G37, the $29,930 base MSRP for the 370Z by Nissan is a breath of fresh air. The nearest competitor's pricing begins at nearly 6 thousand dollars more.

Serving as a respect measure to the original Z-car, the 1970 Datsun 240Z, this new 2009 370Z features the familiar sweeping base line of the rear quarter window. Modernly-shaped front and rear lighting is nothing like the previous generation. These barbed lights enhance the appearance and are quite asymmetrical in design. The redesign also includes more pronounced contours generating a more mature look and feel to the new Z.

New textures and materials for the inside design have significantly increased the interior ambiance. In addition, there has been no sacrifice of cabin spaciousness; two can still fit very comfortably for the enjoyment of these new understated muscle cars by Nissan. The VQ 3.7L 332hp V6 DOHC does not mess around. Rather, it employs the Nissan SynchroRev technology to allow the seven speed transmission to help to blast you down the roads and through hair-raising corners with staggering responsiveness. No fuel efficiency ratings have been disclosed.

There are 2 models available: the 370Z and the 370Z Touring from Nissan for 2009. It is solely available as a coupe. Some of the many cool features include Intelligent Key/Push Button ignition, 1-touch up/down powered windows, auto climate control, steering wheel mounted controls that are illuminated and 4-way adjustable synthesized suede seating with lumbar support. The Touring models get way on the fancy side with features like an 8-speaker Bose audio system, XM Satellite Radio, BlueTooth communications and the HomeLink Universal Transceiver technology to name a few.

Optional features are limited to your choice between the Sport package ($3000) and the Navigational package ($1850). Of course, the focus here is not optional, but standard features. And let's not forget that these machines are primarily designed for one thing alone: Thrills.

A car as fast and powerful as the 2009 370Z by Nissan needs to have ample safety features included, and it does. Dual stage airbags for both passengers are stock as well as additional torso bags and side curtain bags. Active head restraining devices are in place. 4-wheel anti-lock braking and tire pressure monitoring are also stock safety features. Add in seat belt pretensioners, electronic traction control, keyless access, panic alarms, 2-stage door locks and occupancy sensors to complete the standard list of safety features presented.

There is absolutely no denying that the 2009 Nissan 370Z is one of the fastest, sportiest cars available on the planet today. Nissan has created the excitement that has come to be expected from a new generation of the Z car. Strap in and test drive one today - and be prepared to get jolted with a memorable thrill!
