2009 Nissan Versa Review
The 2009 Nissan Versa is available in either a hatchback or sedan design and is a carryover from the prior model year. With superior fuel economy, an affordable price, and a contemporary profile, the 2009 Versa is a head above the rest. Also, though the exterior is compact, the inside has plentiful room for up to five passengers. With impressive technological features, the Versa will surely appeal to the younger American buyer.
Under the hood, the Nissan Versa is fitted with a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that generates up to 122 horsepower; however, with only one engine option, some buyers might be disappointed. Also, with 127-lbs per foot of torque, this 2009 Nissan is on the low end of performance. The hatchback Versa comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but can be upgraded to either a four-speed automatic or Xtronic CVT. The sedan only offers the manual or automatic options. With 27 city MPG and 33 highway MPG on the base trim, the Nissan Versa is far superior to most of the competition.
This Nissan's modern exterior is complemented by its interior technological advancements. Featuring an auxiliary 12-volt power outlet, available keyless entry and ignition, Bluetooth capabilities, in-dash six-disc CD changer, and an MP3 input jack, the Versa implements a great number of technological innovations. Bluetooth enables drivers to take handsfree calls while driving, and the MP3 input jack lets drivers sync their iPod (or other brand player) with the Versa's audio system.
Safety features take center stage for the Versa as well. With full airbag protection, front-seat active head restraints, and a tire pressure monitoring system, the Nissan Versa is among the safest in its category. Front-seat active head restraints both absorb energy during a collision and help prevent the driver and front passenger from bouncing into the dash or windshield in the event of an accident.
Priced at around $12,990, several thousand less than the Pontiac Vibe, the 2009 Nissan Versa is one of the most affordable models on the market. Those on a tight budget will find that though the Versa is inexpensive, it does not lack any essential elements. Not only that, the Versa will continue to save buyers money because of its superior gas mileage also. However, large families will find that a larger sedan will be a better fit. What's more, consumers seeking a hatchback or sedan with generous power will need to look elsewhere as this Nissan is a bit sparing with horsepower.
