The 2010 Nissan 370Z carries into the second year of its sixth generation. The previous-generation 350Z was almost 4 inches longer and had a totally different sheet metal configuration. Its exterior styling is now more squatted - more ready to pounce. It features a sweeping-based quarter window in the rear intentionally reminiscent of the original Datsun 240Z from 1970. Asymmetrical barbed lighting in both the rear and the front enhances the level of esthetic boldness presented.
Overall, the 370Z for 2010 from Nissan is more contoured and produces an effect that is similar in appearance to a Porsche. It shows an increase in maturity and understated suppleness. It's adequately spacious inside of the cabin for two occupants - and it now features an improved ambience brought on by newly configured instrumentation panels, more appropriate materials and very pleasing standards for finishing.
Beneath the hood, a smooth-performing 3.7L 332hp (@ 7000 rpm) 270 lb-ft (@ 5200 rpm) V6 engine is mated to a standard 6-speed SynchroRev manual transmission. The SynchroRev system matches downshift revs with the driver to maximize efficiency and performance. Purchasers who opt for the available 7-speed automatic gearbox are treated to a similar system that "blips" them to adjust throttling when they engage in steering wheel mounted paddle shifting.
Two trim levels are available for the 2010 370Z: Base and Touring. Both are rear wheel driven and can turn a full circle with a 32.8 foot diameter. Competition stems from the Audi TT, the BMW Z4, the base model of the Chevrolet Corvette and the Ford Shelby GT500. Suggested pricing ranges from $36,970 up to $40,520. Both trim levels feature a 19 gallon fuel tank and achieve EPA estimations for fuel economy of 18/25 mpg. A short 100.4 inch wheelbase carries the curb weight of 3426 pounds (3497 pounds for Touring trims). And notably, only 4.2 cubic feet of storage space are presented in the trunk.
The 2010 Nissan 370Z is a spirited roadster that can definitely provide you plenty of thrills at a very attractive price point. If you require higher performance levels, and are able to swallow a price tag of more than $80,000, check out the 2010 Nissan GT-R instead. Nissan has been manufacturing different versions of the iconic Z-car for nearly 40 years now. Experience the design and performance lessons that they have learned by test driving the new 370Z today.
