The 2007 Pontiac Solstice comes standard with a 177 horsepower 2.4 liter Ecotec VVT engine with built-in overdrive, while the souped-up GXP version features a 260 horsepower 2.0 liter turbo-charged Ecotec (both are four-cylinder engines). Either model has a five-speed manual transmission, though a five-speed automatic transmission is an option. Estimated fuel efficiency with the 2.4-liter engine is 20 mpg city, 28 highway with the manual and 22/26 with the automatic. The 2-liter returns 22/31 and 21/29 respectively. Fuel capacity is 13 gallons.

With a starting MSRP of $22,115 for the base model Solstice, it may seem as though Pontiac has sacrificed comfort and convenience for style. Many of the features we've all come to expect as "standard" - cruise control, for example - and air conditioning, are only available as optional upgrades on this car. Likewise, the standard audio package is fairly basic: a six-speaker AM/FM radio/CD player combination that is upgradeable to a seven-speaker system with mp3 playback capability, as well as satellite radio.

Cargo volume of the 2007 Pontiac Solstice is 5.4 cubic feet with the top up and 2.1 with it down. The instrumentation is analog and back-lit with chrome bezels and includes a speedometer, fuel gauge, and tachometer. (On the GXP the trim is satin nickel.) The cloth-covered bucket seats are only adjustable manually.
