Porsche Boxster

The Porsche Boxster was introduced in the United States for the 1997 model year. Reminiscent in style of the type of vehicle that made Porsche famous- specifically a lightweight, fast and simply designed convertible- the engineering and technology were far more advanced than previous models and the price was enticingly reasonable. This entry level Porsche offered a power operated soft convertible top and a 2.5 liter 6 cylinder engine that topped out at 201 horsepower, quickly making the new Boxster one of the top selling models in the luxury convertible category.

For the 2000 model year, the 'S' model was introduced. The Boxster 'S' was presented with a finely tuned suspension, larger wheels with brakes to match. Both acceleration and stopping power were above average. It would not be until the next generation of the affordable roadster, which arrived in 2005, some noteworthy changes would occur. The interior and exterior redesign was astonishingly sleek, and the engine now boasted 240 horsepower from the 2.7 liter, 6 cylinder engine. The handling was outstanding and thrill seekers on a budget were more than pleased.

The 2007 Porsche Boxter is now one of the most expensive cars in its class, but still moderately priced. Without too many options, it is still a reasonably priced and very serious sports car. Older models have retained an exceptional retail value and newer models are expected to do the same. The horsepower for the 2007 base model has been increased to 245, and a respectable 295 for the 'S' model. With its new 19" forged alloy two tone wheels and standard tire pressure monitors, it looks sportier than ever and offers superb handling and braking capabilities. Two storage areas, one in the front and one in the rear, easily accommodate weekend trips for two. The serious luxury convertible driver will appreciate the affordability of this high powered roadster and will know they will be investing in a vehicle that can be enjoyed for years to come and still retain a good portion of its original value, if not more.
