2007 Saturn Sky Review

Offered in two basic trim levels, the manual and Red Line, the 2007 Saturn Sky convertible has a base MSRP of $25,325. The manual version has a 177 horsepower, dual VVT, four-cylinder engine with a five-speed manual transmission. The Sky Red Line has a kickier engine: a 260 horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder , but it still has a five-speed manual transmission standard. A five-speed automatic transmission is an optional upgrade for either version of the Sky.

Estimated fuel economy on the Sky is 20 mpg city, 28 highway with the manual and 22/26 with the automatic. The Red Line registers 22/31 with the manual and 21/29 with the automatic. (Both have a 13.6 gallon fuel tank.) The Sky does zero to 60 in 7.2 seconds; the Red Line in 5.5.

With seating for two, the Skys have a passenger volume of 50 cubic feet. Standard amenities include air conditioning, an adjustable steering column, cruise control, a cloth convertible top, and a glass rear window, as well as an audio system that includes six speakers with it's AM/FM radio and cd-player. Audiophiles can upgrade to a system with MP3 playback, a six-disc changer, and/or satellite radio.

As safe as it is sporty, the 2007 Saturn Sky comes with the usual array of front-seat protection: multi stage airbags with a passenger seat occupancy detection system. As well, there is engine immobilizing technology, an emergency release handle for the trunk, and Saturn's standard OnStar subscription.
