2009 Saturn Sky Review

The 2009 Saturn Sky defies the odds. Not only does it get incredible gas mileage for a sports car, it is also affordably priced. This small package produces an incredible amount of power and simply flies on the road. Also, Saturn includes a subscription to OnStar, so drivers can feel comfortable knowing that there is always someone to assist in the unfortunate event of an accident. This two-seater features a soft top that retracts in a matter of seconds for easy convertibility. When a downpour starts in the middle of a ride, the fast closure of the soft top helps buyers easily protect their prized possession. Overall, the 2009 Sky is both a spectacularly styled sports car and an incredible driving experience.

The 2009 Sky's exterior, which outshines the Mazda MX-5 Miata, includes clever angles and curves to give the Sky a futuristic look, a design that says, "I'm the most contemporary sports car out there." The headlamps are positioned so that they look like eyes with raised eyebrows. The front facade is aggressively styled and endowed with an appealing personality. The sports car looks like something James Bond would drive and talk to. Also, the 18-inch alloy wheels give the 2009 Sky an impressive stance on the road and in the driveway.

Under the hood, the Saturn Sky has a modest 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. However, don't be fooled. It produces up to 173 horsepower, more than enough for such a small, streamlined package. The transmission is available as either a 5-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual. Electronic throttle control, 4-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic rack and pinion steering, and variable valve timing give the Sky both stability and superior power. Daytime running lights are standard on the Sky. One of the best safety features is the dual-stage airbags. These airbags deploy at two different forces. So, if a driver is in a collision that has minimal impact, the lower stage will deploy and prevent any driver or passenger injury.

The 2009 Sky Red Line is an upgraded version of an already fantastic sports car. It starts at around $30,735, and features a 260-hp turbocharged engine, performance suspension, and stylish exterior additions. The Red Line gets an unbelievable 19 city MPG and 28 highway MPG, while the standard Sky gets 19 city and 25 highway. No matter what anyone says about this sports car, they simply cannot argue with the incredible gas mileage. The standard Sky is also priced at a terribly affordable $26,475. It makes one wonder...what the heck is Saturn thinking? Well, for one thing, they've determined what consumers want the most, and then they gave it to them - an accomplishment that no other maker can honestly claim.
