The 2008 Scion tC is manufactured by Toyota and is part of the new Scion brand lineup geared at younger drivers and represents an affordable version of a sports coupe. Though the Scion brand and the tc are relatively new, it is backed by Toyota's admirable safety and reliability ratings. The three door hatchback coupe received some updates for the 2008 model year that include slight revisions to the front and rear fascias that give it a sportier appearance, a uniquely designed new interior fabric and a fresh and appealing contemporary style instrument panel.
Power is provided to all models of this front wheel drive car from a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine that produces 161 horsepower and is combined with a 5 speed manual transmission as part of the standard equipment package or the optional 4 speed automatic. For those looking for more power for their sport coupe, the Toyota Racing Development team provides supercharger that will increase the horsepower of this engine to 200 and is available directly from the dealership.
The tC is available in a well equipped and budget friendly Spec model or the more full featured Base model. The Spec version includes 16 inch wheels, keyless entry, power windows and door locks, split folding and reclining rear seats and a Pioneer stereo system with CD player and auxiliary jack. The Base model adds 17 inch alloy wheels, cruise control and a moon roof. And, because it is a Scion, all models are highly customizable so you can create your own ride and include such dealer options and accessories such as spoilers, various interior trims, a large selection of wheels and uniquely designed graphics.
For around $16,000, the 2008 Scion tC is well balanced combination of crisp handling, a smooth ride, a peppy power plant and a well designed and crafted interior that will appeal to the target generation Y market as well as most young at heart and economically minded adults.
