2010 Subaru Forester Review

Blending the riding quality of a car with the practicality of a sport utility vehicle, the 2010 Subaru forester retails for price points between $20,295 and $28,495. It delivers an EPA-estimated 20/27 mpg city/highway and competes with major players like the Honda Element, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue and the Mazda Tribute. Each of the five available trims are all wheel-driven and feature a 16.9-gallon fuel reservoir. The Forester utilizes an innovative Symmetrical AWD system to keep you and your family safe and sound, regardless of the terrain that you travel on.

The 2010 Forester by Subaru comes equipped with a stock 2.5L H4 engine that cranks out 170 horses at 6000 RPM. 5 trims are available: 2.5 XT Limited, 2.5 XT Premium, 2.5 X Limited, 2.5 X Premium and the Base 2.5 X. 2.5 X and 2.5 x Premium trims receive a 5-speed manual gearbox that features a system for Incline Start Assist while the other three trims are fitted with a 4-speed automatic with manual shifting capabilities. Subaru Forester torque ratings for all X trims are reported at 170 lb-ft @4400 RPM. XT trims are equipped with a 2.5L intercooled turbocharged H4 variant that whips up 224 horses at 5200 RPM and also increases the torque rating to 226 lb-ft at 2800 RPM. All trims have a maximum payload capacity of 900 pounds, require a 17.2-foot turning radius and are able to tow up to 2400 pounds.

The Subaru Forester 2010 has earned double 5-star frontal crash test safety ratings from the NHTSA. It features 4-wheel antilock braking, electronic stability control, anti-whiplash head restraints, seatbelt pre-tensioners, ignition disable security and loads of airbags in places where you wouldn't normally see them. Other standard trim-dependent features that deserve recognition include:

  • Heated front seats;
  • GPS touchscreen navigation;
  • Leather upholstery;
  • Automatic climate control;
  • Steering-wheel audio controls;
  • Privacy glass;
  • Memory driver's seat with lumbar support;
  • Electronic rollover sensors;
  • And much more...

The 2010 Subaru Forester does not skimp on value. It delivers the comfort, safety, performance and technology that you need for prices that you can definitely afford. And don't forget, with all of those standard safety features in place, you will pay considerably less for effective automobile insurance coverage. The Forester weighs in at the curb at 3250 pounds, clears the ground by 8.7 inches and features a 103.0-inch wheelbase. Its 179.5, 70.1 and 65.9 inches in length, width and height. Stretch your ankles out in 43.1 inches of frontal legroom and wreck your neck to your favorite song in 42 inches of headroom. You can also let down the rear seating to increase the 33.5 cubic feet of luggage capacity up to 68.3 cubic feet. Very comfortable standard seating in the Subaru Forester is for five adults.
