The 2008 Suzuki XL7 is a midsize crossover SUV with room for seven passengers, a very attractive price tag and a long list of standard features. Much like the majority of crossover vehicles, the XL7 delivers a much smoother ride than most SUVs and is not a capable off road vehicle. However, more and more automotive consumers are appreciative of the passenger and cargo capacity of crossover vehicles and many realize that they really do not need the towing capacities and off road enhancements that are typically included with a true SUV. It is obvious GM is a partner in this particular endeavor as the XL7 is based on the Equinox platform and all XL7 models are powered by the same 3.6 liter V6 GM engine that produces 252 horsepower mated to a five speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, electronic stability and traction control systems and side curtain airbags. The exterior is pure and crisp Japanese styling with prominent body lines connecting sculpted features like the robust front grille and angular headlight clusters.

The XL7 is available in four different trim levels and various models are additionally available configured for either five or seven passenger seating with the exception of the Base model which is available in a five passenger configuration and the Limited model which comes standard with a fold down third row seat that allows it to accommodate seven passengers. The Base model comes very well equipped with 16 inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, tinted windows, power seats and windows, cruise control, trip computer, automatic climate control and stereo system with six speakers, auxiliary jack and a CD player. The Premium model is equipped similarly with the addition of 17 inch alloy wheels; upscale floor mats and simulated wood trim inside. The Luxury version takes all this a step further with heated leather power seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, in dash six CD changer and a leather wrapped steering wheel. The top of the line Limited features 17 inch chrome wheels, remote start, fog lamps and the ability to swap out the navigation system and sunroof for a rear seat DVD entertainment system. It would be nice to have the option of having a navigation system, sun roof and rear seat entertainment center, but in this vehicle you just can't have it all unless you go aftermarket to get it. Several options are available for all models, including a rear assist camera for the Limited.
