Suzuki Forenza

The Suzuki Forenza compact sedan was introduced for the 2004 model year, with a wagon style complimenting the lineup arriving in 2005. The new small car market is flooded with inexpensive run around vehicles intended to offer consumers in search of a fuel efficient and functional every day car as much bang for the buck as possible without increasing the MSRP and the Forenza is one of the many such cars.

With a redesigned Italian style front fascia featuring the new Suzuki grille and an upgraded interior, the Forenza entered the 2006 model year without much industry excitement or acclaim. Although the cabin was spacious and attractive, materials were substandard in comparison to other economy cars. Power and performance were again both lacking when compared to other small cars, yet it could still get you where you wanted to go with some impressive safety and convenience features without draining your bank account.

The 2007 Forenza is equipped with an unassuming 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that produces 127 horsepower. Front wheel drive and a 5 speed manual transmission come standard, while a 4 speed automatic is optional. With mpg ratings of 22 in the city and 31 on the highway, the gas mileage is not overwhelmingly impressive. Only one trim level is available for both the sedan and the wagon with standard equipment including color coordinated front and rear bumpers, a tire-pressure monitoring system, adjustable driver seat, air-conditioning, power operated doors and windows and a premium eight-speaker stereo with CD player with steering wheel mounted controls. An optional Convenience Package adds a remote keyless entry and cruise control, while the Popular Package includes these features and also adds a sunroof.

Although there are better built and more fuel efficient economy cars on the market, with a sticker price of well under 20K even when well equipped, the Suzuki Forenza is still hanging on to its spot as a viable contender in the small car category.
