2010 Toyota Highlander Review

2010 Toyota Highlander Review

With retail pricing between $25,855 and $34,670, the 2010 Toyota Highlander has been engineered with the quality that only a legendary company like Toyota is capable of. Competitors including the Mazda CX-7, Nissan Murano and the Hyundai Santa Fe would like to choke it out. It has earned a 5-Star NHTSA safety rating for driver's side frontal crash tests. It offers perspective purchasers a long list of standard safety features including electronic stability and traction control, loads of airbags and antilock braking with electronic brake assist. It's available as either a front wheel or all wheel-driven vehicle. There are five trims available: Highlander, SE, Limited, Hybrid and Hybrid Limited.

The Highlander 2010 from Toyota is a middle-sized SUV that's built to stand out in crowds. It's powered by a base-level 2.7L 187-horsepower 186 lb-ft I4 engine joined to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Every other trim comes equipped with a 3.5L 270-horsepower 248 lb-ft V6 engine with a 5-speed auto transmission with a mode for sequential shifting by hand. Payload ratings vary by trim between 1450 pounds and 1822 pounds. Likewise, towing capacity ranges from 2000 pounds up to 5000. And even with all of that power and ability, the new Highlander still delivers 20/27 mpg city/highway on base trim models. The fuel tank is 19.2 gallons and will allow travel for more than 500 miles on a single fill up. All trims require a 19.4-foot turning radius.

Standard features and equipment on base trim Highlanders from Toyota include:

  • 17-inch alloy wheels;
  • Cruise control;
  • CD/MP3 audio system;
  • AC;

And stepping up in trim levels, you'll be treated to standard amenities including rearview camera monitors, flip-up rear liftgate window, 19-inch alloy wheels, a powered moonroof, heated front seats and a lot more. Take it for granted that you won't be left wanting for more options when you order your new Toyota Highlander.

Viewing the Toyota Highlander 2010 from the outside, you'll witness 188.4 inches in length, 75.2 in width and 68.1 in height. It sits off the ground 8.1 inches and features a long 109.8-inch wheelbase. Trim-dependent curb weights range from 4050 pounds on base models up to more than 4300 pounds. There's plenty of room on the inside too; even rear passengers can stretch out with 38.3 inches of legroom. The big 42.3 cubic foot standard luggage capacity can be expanded up to a whopping 95.4 cubic feet by folding down the rear seating. Base trims have standard seating for five while all others accommodate up to seven very comfortably.

Be sure that excellent financing incentives are still available from Toyota. In fact, getting a new Toyota loan is easier than ever. Take a closer look at the 2010 Toyota Highlander today and appreciate why it is poised to set sales records like never before.
