2010 Toyota Tundra Review
The 2010 Toyota Tundra is a carryover model that continues its second generation that began in 2007. It's also Toyota's third offering in the full-size truck market. The first full size pickup that Toyota released was called the T100. It suffered in sales due to its small engine size. People that want full-size trucks taught Toyota that they want full power too. And that's what the Toyota Tundra has to offer now.
An available 5.7L 381hp V8 engine combined with a 6-speed standard automatic transmission allow Toyota to brag about offering one of the most strong and able powertrains in its segment. It is E85 flex fuel capable and creates a towing capacity of up to 10,800 pounds. That makes most of the competition, including the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the Dodge Ram 1500, the 2010 Ford F150 and the GMC Sierra 1500 cringe.
Trim dependent, the 2010 Toyota Tundra offers a maximum payload capacity between 1350 and 1990 pounds. There's also an innovative railing system in the bed that features heavy duty anchors and cleats that can be conveniently positioned and repositioned - each rated to handle up to 220 pounds.
Manufacturer's suggested retail pricing ranges from $23,155 up to $42,155. The Tundra from Toyota for 2010 is one seriously large unit as well. At 209.8 inches in length, 79.9 inches and body width and 75.8 inches in body height, you will definitely see it coming at you. It rides on a wheelbase of 126.8 inches and clears the ground by 10.2. There are four trims available ranging in gross vehicular weight from 6200 to 6600 pounds.
Those trim levels are called the Base V6 2-door 4 x 2 Regular Cab, Base 4.6L V8 2-door 4 x 2 Regular cab, Base 5.7L V8 2-door 4 x 2 Regular Cab and the Base V6 2-door Long Bed (8 ft.) Regular Cab. All models of the new Toyota Tundra besides the Long Bed feature a 6.6 foot bed. Also, the turning radius for all trims is 19.6 feet while the Long Bed trim's radius for turning is 22 feet even.
All trims feature standard seating for three with head, shoulder, hip and leg room measurements of 40, 67, 63 and 42.5 inches respectively. Overall, the 2010 Toyota Tundra is one of the toughest, most ready and able full sized pickup trucks available on the planet. It sticks to the plan of what a truck is supposed to be for: ruggedness, hauling ability, towing capacity, safety and power.
