The 2009 Volkswagen Passat is a mid-sized European sedan that sits in competition with the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. As such, it necessarily produces responsive throttling and exciting performance. The power from its optional 3.6L narrow-angle V6 is well-disguised by its modest appearance. Steering is precise and handling is smoothly-intricate - and it can jump from sitting still to cruising 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds.
The spacious interior of the 2009 Passat offers drivers and passengers comfort and plenty of luxury as well. A 6-foot rear passenger has more than enough room to stretch out - even while seated behind a 6-foot driver. There is an impressive array of standard features to conveniently deliver all occupants to given destinations. And this luxurious comfort presented has not taken anything away from the fact that the Passat continues to be one of the safest cars on the planet.
The 2009 Passat is a continuation of the generation that began in 2006. It is larger in all dimensions than was the previous generation. The base engine is a 2.0L 200hp turbocharged 4-cylinder that delivers 23/32 mpg city/highway. It is accompanied by a 6-speed manual transmission (optional 6-speed auto available). When the V6 engine is opted for, the buyer can also elect to have the VW 4Motion AWD system installed.
12-way power adjustable driver's seats increase the utility of the interior. Rear seats fold on a 60/40 split to accommodate the need for hauling luggage or other gear. Pollen filtration and climate control systems are standard features as well on the 2009 VW Passat as are electronic parking brakes, an 8-speaker CD changer with MP3 capability and 16-inch alloy wheels. Komfort trims also come stock with a power sunroof, XM Satellite Radio, steering wheel controls and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Lux trims feature upgraded leather upholstery, auto 2-zone climate controls, 12-way power-adjustable passenger seats, wipers that sense rain and the VW Park Distance Control. Standard safety features include a nice placement of multiple airbags, 4-wheel disc braking with ABS and electronic brake force distribution, electromechanical steering assist, electronic stability and traction control systems and tire pressure monitoring. There are also rear side impact airbags available for an additional $350.
The 2009 Volkswagen Passat Sedan is a wonderful blend of stylistic design and high-tech engineering. Its stance is innovative and dynamic. Its front end is aggressive-looking and the profile is interesting from many different views. The composite headlamps remind one of a set of eyes - looking forward down the paths they will encounter with anticipation. The standard VW warranty covers the Passat Sedan for 36 months or 36,000 miles. And, of course, Volkswagen engineering continues to lead the planet for cars that are dependable, fun, attractive, safe and powerful.
