2012 Volvo S60

Posted: 01/13/2012 - 12:07 PM ET

Starting at a very reasonable price of $31,300, the purchasing a 2012 Volvo S60 will fulfill nearly every requirement you’re looking for in a luxury sedan. In addition to that, $31,300 is a very fair price for a new Volvo and the manufacturer has not sacrificed any functionality or luxury with this year’s model.

The new Volvo S60 model provides consumers with 30 MPG highway, goes from a standstill to 60 MPH in just 6.8 seconds and comes with a no-questions-asked 5-year unlimited warranty. All this has helped the S60 to be a best-in-class leader in three separate categories for luxury sedans. It also comes with 2 chassis settings, one of which is will add more safety, with the Advanced Stability Control feature. The second, allows you to tear up the streets in the all-new Sport mode. Volvo has also included the option for all-wheel drive in their T6 model – a remarkable innovation for a luxury sedan.

Despite the fact that many Volvo enthusiasts are vehemently opposed to Mercedes-Benz, the all-new design of the S60 looks like a cross of a Volvo you’ve never seen before and a Mercedes-Benz SLK. The engineers in Sweden have designed the body with new, stunning lines and angles that give it both a sporty and highly luxurious look. It comes with a spoiler on the rear deck, newly redesigned xenon headlights, a new-and-improved grill and state-of-the-art exhaust pipes and rims. Once you lay your eyes upon this sexy beast, you won’t be able to take them off it.

The 2012 Volvo S60 offers three different turbocharged engine options, going all the way up to the most powerful engine yet designed by Volvo, with the T6 R-Design. Not that you should race this marvelous piece of machinery on the streets, but you wouldn’t be left in the dust, should you take it to a local track. The new S60 fulfills all the requirements that you look for in a sport/luxury sedan.

One of the most advanced safety features the manufacturer has included in this model is the ability to detect people and objects dangerously close in front of you, at which point it will use its new auto-brake feature, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop before you hit the person or car. Like all Volvo models of the last 10 years, the S60 comes with standard daytime running lights. While many consumers regard this as an unnecessary precaution, research shows that cars with daytime running lights get in as much as 15% fewer accidents. That doesn’t sound so unnecessary to me. All models also come standard with the most advanced airbag options, ensuring that you and your riders are in the safest vehicle possible. If you didn’t already know, Volvo is widely regarded as one of the safest vehicles to drive. Plus, they are consistently reliable, offer astounding looks and get great gas mileage. If that doesn’t convince you to buy one, then I don’t know what will.
